Leds more efficient than Son-T in hybrid lighting
02 jul 2009 -Lighting with LEDs and Son-T lamps worked out well in the tomato test at the Improvement Centre in Bleiswijk.
The additional production was however lower than expected. But the effectiveness of LEDs seems much higher than that of Son-T lamps.
With a combination of Son-T LED lighting and the positive properties of both expected: light and heat
of the Son-T lamps and light without supplementary heat surplus of LEDs.
The whole unit was exposed to 132 micromol Son-T lamps, the hybrid test area received additional 60 umol Ledlicht per square meter per second.
Fruit Weight
Based on the fruit production in the early years ,there was originally a production of more hybrid growth expected under 6 pounds light.
But because the fruit weight was disappointing through week 19 there was a 4 kilograms per square meter more than harvested in the box with only 132 umol Son-T lamps.
Hybrid Test
More production of 4 kilograms seems little, but is a remarkable result if you take a look at the efficiency of the additional LED light .
The hybrid test is inserted for each additional mole LED light 13.5 grams of tomatoes produced.
In one department during the same period 540 additional mole Son-T lamps was given, the more production (same race, planting date)
out at 9.6 grams per mole extra Son-T-Light.
Son-T-greenhouse
This means that the hybrid test the LEDs are more efficient than a factor of 1.4 Son-T lamps.
